An experience packed small group tour, featuring famous highlights and off-the-beaten-path alternatives. Highlights include:
  • 10 Oct Shinkansen (Bullet train) to Hikone; visit the original Edo period castle and neighbouring Genkyuen garden. Visit Sagawa Art Museum and enjoy free-time; overnight stay on the shores of Lake Biwa.  

  • 11 Oct – Visit the cultural capital of Kyoto; see the Golden Pavilion and the Zen garden of Ryoanji Temple. Make your own sushi; kimono wearing and tea ceremony; private dinner with a Geisha; overnight in  Lake Biwa.
  • 12 Oct – Travel to the ancient capital of Nara, home to sacred deer and the Great Buddha at Todaiji Temple; head to Osaka for a street food tour with local expert.
  • 13 Oct – Escape the crowds - journey through mountains to hot spring town of Kaga Onsen. After visiting ancient samurai castle ruins and trying zen meditation, check into a traditional Ryokan inn. Evening multicourse Kaiseki dinner and relax in hot spring baths. 
  • 14 Oct – Explore local markets, transfer to Japan sea coast city of Kanazawa; visit historic samurai district and traditional gold leaf workshops.
 
  • 15 Oct  – Free morning to explore the local markets; visit one of Japan’s most beautiful gardens; walking tour in the afternoon. This evening, enjoy dinner and traditional arts including taiko drumming. 
  • 16 Oct – Travel via Shinkansen back to Tokyo; exclusive Inside Circle city tour. Farewell dinner, then unwind like a local!
  • 17 Oct  –  Private car to Haneda / Narita Airport.
