Try the street food

Turkish cuisine is known for its delicious street food, such as doner kebabs, simit (a sesame-covered bread), and stuffed mussels. Don't be afraid to try these local specialties from street vendors or markets.

Hot air balloon ride

Visit local markets

Dress modestly

While Türkiye is a relatively liberal country, it's important to be respectful of local customs and dress modestly when visiting mosques or other religious sites. Women should cover their heads and wear long pants or skirts, and men should wear long pants and shirts with sleeves.

Turkish coffee is brewed in a traditional copper pot and served unfiltered, with the grounds settling at the bottom of the cup. Don't be fooled by its small size, Turkish coffee packs a punch with its rich flavor and caffeine content. Don't forget to ask for a glass of water to cleanse your palate and nibble on a piece of Turkish delight for a sweet finish.


Local rakı 

Often referred to as "lion's milk," this popular drink is typically enjoyed with meze (Turkish appetizers) and good company. To properly savor rakı, add a splash of cold water and watch as the clear liquid turns a milky white.

Explore Leleg
