ABTA The Travel Convention

The UK travel industry's flagship event: where conversations, connections and ideas happen

Türkiye as a sustainable destination

Türkiye is proud to be a sustainable destination. Türkiye offers a multitude of travel options to visitors who are trying to minimize their carbon footprint, reduce waste consumption and who care about preserving local cultures while having unforgettable experiences.

At the beginning of 2022, Türkiye created a sustainable tourism roadmap by making a cooperation agreement with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), the world's top environment and sustainability platform. Within the scope of the National Sustainable Tourism Program, the first National Sustainability program at the government level was initiated with GSTC. All studies with the focus of Sustainable Tourism, including the Türkiye Sustainable Tourism Program, which is planned to be completed by 2030, will contribute to the sustainable transformation of Türkiye and the world.

Detailed information on this program is available on Türkiye's Official Tourism Portal and TGA’s Website.

Proud of its sustainable actions, Türkiye displays its achievements in this field through a website for international tourism markets. Türkiye has been publishing more than 50 sustainable tourism experiences on the Sustainability GoTürkiye website since September 2021 under the GoTürkiye Platform, a unique official tourism platform with around 3,000 titles in 10 languages.
