His career in Wärtsilä has brought him in contact with all aspects of the marine industry both from a segment point of view as well as geogrphically. In his early years at Wärtsilä he has worked a lot with customers on life cycle solutions for their existing fleet and after 5 year he has started to work more and more on New Building projects and concept development. While growing the company to become the global leader in innovative technologies and lifecycle solutions Maikel has specialized himself in the Passenger vessel segment and has become a key partner for the Cruise industry.

The company purpose:” Enabling sustainable societies through innovation in technology and services” is close to his heart. Maikel works at the intersection of maritime C-suite challenges and cutting-edge technology development with a strong focus on navigating the decarbonisation journey. He combines the technology innovations from Wärtsilä, with his experience and network to create solutions that deliver on sustainability and business economics.

Maikel has a degree in engineering and a degree in commercial business; however he is also a certified tutor in engineering. This enables him to explain complex problems and solutions to a wide range of audiences. He has 25+ years of experience in commerce and business development in complex and competitive environments. This combination of technology expertise, business understanding, and communication makes him a frequent speaker at events and an ideal advisor from engine room to board room.

In his private life Maikel is married and a father of 3 children and as a Dutch man also a keen cyclist and plays field hockey.

Donald Brown develops, presents, negotiates, and implements global industry positions on legislative, regulatory, and policy matters involving security, environmental stewardship and health. In addition, he leads delegations to the International Maritime Organization where he represents the global cruise industry during international treaty negotiations and other matters. He is also the designated Secretary to the CLIA Global Committees on Maritime Security Matters and Marine Environment Protection Matters.

Prior to joining CLIA, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard at the rank of Commander. His most recent assignment was to the Office of Maritime International Law where he provided agency-wide legal counsel to senior officials and federal interagency leaders on transnational maritime threats, with specific expertise in facilitating others to reach agency, national, and international consensus on policy matters. Previous duty assignments include U.S. Northern Command and NORAD, speechwriter and special assistant to the Coast Guard Commandant, Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Florida, Rescue Coordination Center Miami and four years of at-sea experience aboard Coast Guard Cutters ESCANABA (1st Lieutenant) and VASHON (Executive Officer). Donald is a 1993 graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Government. In 2003 he graduated Cum Laude from the University of Miami School of Law where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Inter-American Law Review. He has also served as a Visiting Professor of Law at the U.S. Naval Academy for Piracy, Maritime Threats, and the Law of the Sea.

Vice Admiral William Burke is the Chief Maritime Officer for the Carnival Corporation & plc. He joined Carnival Corporation in December 2013. Burke graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering, completed his MBA at Marymount University, and received Master of Science in National Security Strategy at the National War College. He is a graduate of MIT Seminar 21 Program in International Politics. Adm. Burke served on five submarines including command of USS Toledo and commanded Submarine Squadron Two. Olivier Buton is currently the SVP of Marine/Technical & New Build Supply Chain Management at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., where he has worked for almost 12 years focusing on supply chain for fleet in service, new builds and shoreside constructions, and supervising multiple categories like marine, technical, FF&E, refurbishment, and security. Previously, he was the Group Procurement Director at MCI Group, a Swiss company specialized in communications and event management, enhancing procurement strategies. His experience also includes roles in procurement and technology consultancy. Olivier has over 23 years of experience in supply chain and purchasing.

Born on the West coast of France, Olivier relocated to Miami in 2009. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Arts et Metiers (ENSAM) in Paris.

Kateri Ciccaglione is a Director on the WWF-US Markets team, where she drives impactful initiatives that promote sustainable transformation in the food and fashion sectors. Currently, she leads two grant-funded programs: one in partnership with leading designer brands to accelerate deforestation-free leather supply chains, and the other aimed at establishing robust environmental standards to mitigate the impacts of food production. These efforts are strategic to the Markets team at WWF, which actively convenes multi-stakeholder platforms to elevate awareness, foster collaboration, and implement effective solutions to the pressing challenges in agricultural production. Before joining WWF, Kateri honed her expertise over nearly a decade at Accenture, where she provided strategic consulting to nonprofits and federal agencies. Kelly Craighead

Kelly Craighead is the President and CEO of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the world’s largest cruise industry trade association and the leading the authority of the global cruise community. She is responsible for overseeing the management of the global operations and CLIA leadership teams across its seven regions around the world. Ms. Craighead comes to CLIA with extensive experience serving in executive leadership positions in the public and private sectors.

As the first executive director of the National Travel & Tourism Office at the U.S. Department of Commerce from 2014 to 2017, Ms. Craighead served as the senior government representative for travel and tourism matters on behalf of the administration. In addition to providing overarching coordination of federal government tourism policies and programs, Ms. Craighead led initiatives that generated more than $250 billion annually from international visitors to the USA while also representing the United States as the key point of contact with other government tourism ministers in critical travel and tourism policy efforts.

Prior to her role at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Ms. Craighead served as President and Managing Director at Democracy Alliance where she provided essential management capacity to evolve the organization from inception to steady state.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Craighead held leadership roles on the White House staff from 1993-2001 and traveled extensively within the United States and abroad and developed a far-ranging network of partners in government, public affairs, media, and business.

Immediately before her appointment to CLIA, Ms. Craighead was Principal of Vertimas Consulting, a consultancy she founded to deliver strategic planning, business development and executive leadership support to variety of private sector clients including The World Travel and Tourism Council where she served as a Special Adviser.

Jennifer Garson

Jennifer Garson has spent almost 20 years in the clean energy sector, most recently serving for more than 15 years at the U.S. Department of Energy. Jennifer was the Director of the Water Power Technologies Office, leading the execution of the $200M office, in addition to the $150M in funding for water power through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. During her nearly six years at in the Water Power Office, she led and crafted strategies to more than double the annual appropriations for the office. She was responsible for engagement with Congressional representatives in both chambers, and has testified in front of the Senate on water power issues.

She served in key roles launching major new DOE programs and initiatives. She crafted strategy for the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, including the $1B Energy Improvement in Rural or Remote Areas program. She helped launch the Grid Deployment Office $800M Hydropower Electric Incentives program. And was key on the implementation for the new Partnership Intermediary Agreement ENERGYWERX, and the DOE Foundation for Energy Security and Innovation.

She spent her federal career transforming DOE’s usage of innovative funding mechanisms, increasing the impact of federal funding for clean energy innovation. This includes prizes, lab-directed funding, and SBIR/STTR. She worked in partnership with the private sector to launch programs that have supported hundreds of startups that have attracted billions in private sector capital.

Prior to the Water Office, she was the Chief of Staff for the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Renewable Power. She held senior roles in Technology to Market in EERE, the Office of Technology Transitions, and supported grid work in the Office of Electricity and the Office of the Chief Financial Officer.

She received multiple awards from the DOE Secretary and EERE Assistant Secretary in recognition for her work on the Inflation Reduction Act tax credit implementation, innovation funding mechanisms approach, and leadership in the blue economy.

Jennifer earned her B.A. in Anthropology and Environmental Studies Concentration at Kenyon College and her Master of Public Policy at George Washington University.

Carla Guilbaud is Vice President, Membership Experience for Cruise Lines International. In this role, Guilbaud leads the Membership and Commercial elements that are so critical to support and provide value to our members and commercial partners around the globe.

She joined CLIA in November 2022 and has extensive experience in the industry, having spent her entire career working for one of the world’s largest cruise lines. As a result, she brings to CLIA insight and experience supporting a wide range of business structures in North America and globally.

Prior to joining CLIA, Guilbaud was with Royal Caribbean Group, most recently as Director, Supply Chain Management. In this position, she was responsible for marine and technical procurement related to new builds and special projects. Prior this position, Guilbaud held positions of increasing responsibility over her 23-year career with the company.

Guilbaud earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in international business from Florida International University—College of Business, and recently earned a Master of Science degree in Engineering and Industrial Management from Florida International University—College of Engineering & Computing.

Admiral Kenney serves as Special Envoy to the CLIA CEO, primarily advising on regulatory and political matters in Europe and North America. He is the former Director of the Legal Affairs and External Relations Division at the International Maritime Organization, where he was responsible for the delivery of legal services to the IMO Secretariat and the 175 Member States, with particular emphasis on the law of the sea and treaty law. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Admiral Kenney served as the Chair of the IMO’s Seafarer’s Crisis Action Team, providing intervention and support to seafarers stranded as a result of the pandemic. In 2022, Admiral Kenney was seconded to the United Nations, where he served as part of the negotiating team and later as the Initial UN Coordinator for the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

Prior to his service with the UN/IMO, Admiral Kenney served for 33 years in the United States Coast Guard, ultimately being assigned as the Judge Advocate General and Chief Counsel. Previous assignments include Chief, Office of Maritime and International Law and several other legal and operational tours, including Commanding Officer, USCG Pacific Area Tactical Law Enforcement Team and service aboard a polar icebreaker.

Admiral Kenney is currently Visiting Fellow at Swansea University and also lectures at the World Maritime University and the IMO International Maritime Law Institute. He previously was an Adjunct Professor of Maritime Law at the Georgetown University Law Center. He has published numerous articles and book chapters.

Renée Limoge Reeve leads all government affairs and community relations efforts on behalf of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) in Alaska.

Before joining CLIA in June 2021, Limoge Reeve held positions of increasing responsibility that helped establish her as an important liaison between Federal, State, and Tribal governments, and, the people of Alaska, with whom she shares a passion for the state’s diverse cultures, endless wildlife, epic beauty, and expansive coastlines.

Limoge Reeve’s love of Alaska was forever set following her graduation from college when she moved to Juneau from Washington, D.C. and became House Majority Press Secretary and subsequently Chief of Staff to a member of the Alaska State Legislature.

Limoge Reeve also served as spokesperson against a statewide ballot initiative and as Press Secretary for former Alaska Lt. Governor Craig Campbell. Following her experience working in the Lt. Governor’s office, she worked for the Alaska Support Industry Alliance, being promoted to Deputy Director. From 2018 to June 2021, Limoge Reeve was State Director for U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan.

Limoge Reeve is a graduate of the University of Vermont, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science. She and her husband, Michael, live in Anchorage with their yellow Labrador, Fenway, and take advantage of every opportunity to explore Alaska’s great outdoors.

Prior to supporting the Cruise Lines International Association as a strategic communications consultant and establishing her consultancy firm, 357 Communications, Anne was chief strategy and communications officer for Brand USA, the nation’s destination marketing organization with the mission of increasing international visitation to the United States in order to fuel the nation's economy and enhance the image of the USA worldwide. In that role, Anne established the strategic foundation on which Brand USA successfully pursues its mission, as well as developed award-winning communications strategies to build strong and positive engagement with internal and external stakeholders worldwide. Earlier in her career, she held similar roles with Choice Hotels, Enterprise Community Investment, and The Ryland Group.

Anne has been honored with awards for a variety of marketing communications campaigns, including Platinum, Gold, and Silver Adrian awards from the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI). In addition to being twice named by PR News as a Top Women in PR, she has been recognized as one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by the Daily Record and a Top Woman in Travel and Tourism Leadership by Women in Travel and Tourism International.

Anne earned her bachelor of science degree in communications from Wittenberg University and is a member of the Women’s Leadership Board at the Harvard Kennedy School. She and her husband, Dave, have four children and live in Columbia, Maryland.

Mike McGarry oversees CLIA’s government affairs activities in North America and is serving in an interim capacity as Managing Director for North America. He had previously worked at CLIA for 11 years and served as SVP, Global Government Affairs, and North America Secretariat.

Prior to joining CLIA, Mike served as a government relations and public affairs leader for industry- leading brands, including Royal Dutch Shell plc, Visa Inc., Harrah’s Entertainment, MasterCard Incorporated, and KPMG.

At Shell, Mike led Group external affairs in the U.S. and was later based in London as head of Global External Affairs for Shell Chemicals Companies. Earlier in his career, Mike was Deputy Staff Director and Parliamentarian for the U.S. House of Representatives Financial Services Committee during consideration of historic legislation and investigative hearings that received international media attention.

Serge Picard, Chief Commercial and Sustainability Officer at Café William, has a remarkable career blending finance, international trade, and sustainability. Graduating in finance from Université Laval in 1995, Mr. Picard began his career in sales and management with a local cheese producer before moving to the finance sector in 1998 with a Quebec-based M&A firm. It was here that he first invested in Café Vittoria, an opportunity that sparked his long-term interest in the coffee industry.

His career then took him to Wall Street, where he excelled as a commodities trader for firms like Sempra Energy, Merrill Lynch, and Hess Oil. Later, he founded Black Oak Energy, a brokerage firm he led from 2003 to 2017. Throughout, he maintained his commitment to Café Vittoria, contributing to its growth as an investor.

In 2017, Mr. Picard transitioned fully to Café Vittoria—now Café William—aligning his passion for coffee with his expertise in commercial development. As Chief Commercial and Sustainability Officer, he oversees sales and market development in both the U.S. and Canada, partnering with co-investors Mr. Haley and Mr. Tremblay to drive Café William’s sustainable growth and market presence.

According to the World Health Organization, people with disabilities comprise 15% of the global population, and they are 20% to 25% of the population in developed countries and source markets. As Baby Boomers age, the population of people with disabilities grows.

In 2009, John Sage founded his first accessible travel company, Sage Traveling, which provides accessible vacations to disabled travelers. John Sage has personally traveled with his wheelchair to inspect accessibility in hundreds of cities around the world, and Sage Traveling currently provides accessible accommodation, transportation, tours, pre-trip consulting, and emergency assistance in more than 50 countries.

In 2016, Sage realized that no tour operator was focused on the accessibility market, so he founded his second company, Accessible Travel Solutions (ATS). ATS is now an industry leader in providing accessible travel packages to travel agents and has won Travel Weekly’s Tour Operator of the Year award. In 2017, ATS began providing accessible shore excursions to multiple cruise lines. ATS now offers accessible shore excursions in 140+ ports around the world.

In 2021, he founded Sage Inclusion which empowers travel businesses and destinations to succeed in the accessible travel market. The industry-leading services include accessibility 1) assessments, 2) training, 3) certification, 4) marketing, and 5) consulting.

John Sage is the first and only accessible travel company CEO who is a member of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). He was the primary author of the WTTC’s “Inclusive and Accessible Travel Guidelines”, and his “Top 10 Accessible Travel Tips for Europe” article has been published in Rick Steves' guidebooks. Sage received the Houston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award for executives and entrepreneurs. He is one of only a few individuals in the travel industry to have attained the IAAP Certified Accessibility Professional designation. He currently serves as accessibility subcommittee co-chairman for Destinations International (DI) and accessibility subcommittee chairman for the US Travel and Tourism Advisory Board (TTAB) where he advises the US Secretary of Commerce on accessible travel issues.

Joseph Sellwood has over 20 years of international experience in strategic consulting in the areas of sustainability and social-environmental responsibility, working in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, China, Indonesia, Japan, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, the U.S., and Canada. Throughout his career, he has led the implementation of more than 200 projects across sectors such as agriculture (Dow, JBS, Monsanto, Cargill), finance (Citibank, Itaú), consumer products (Natura, Nike, PepsiCo), and extractive industries (Alcoa, Vale, Exxon).

Joseph is the co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of REVER Consulting, where he has led international partnerships and implemented traceability systems for critical commodities, with a special focus on livestock and agricultural supply chains in collaboration with Wholechain. With extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, he has also developed programs in local development, human rights, and gender equality.
