Arno Reitsma

Born in Dordrecht, Arno Reitsma's journey in river cruising began aboard Scylla vessels at an early age, where his parents led as captain and hotel director. After graduating in accounting in 1988, he officially joined Scylla Tours in 1989. Arno's journey was always connected to the cruise industry, experiencing diverse roles during his school holidays, such as a sailor, service, kitchen, and reception. This diverse knowledge and innovative spirit led him to become the CEO he is today.

In his professional journey, In 1990, he led exploratory visits to the Main Danube Canal, laying the groundwork for future Danube cruises. Furthermore, 1997 marked the launch of River Po cruises in Italy, a project boosted by Arno. In 2007, alongside his brother, Arno acquired the company from their father, assuming the role of CEO and rebranding it as Scylla.

Founder of VIVA Cruises and Seaventure, both successful ventures showed that Arno's influence is transformative. Moreover, he introduced Christmas market cruises in the mid-'90s and New Year's cruises, carving a niche in seasonal experiences. Furthermore, Arno, in a team effort, managed to establish Scylla's position as the first charter partner for American tour operators in the 90’s, for instance, Intrav and Uniworld, where one relevant stakeholder was Rudi Schreiner, later founder of Ama Waterways.

Family, travel, and gastronomy hold a significant place in his life. And, as he consistently emphasizes, his guiding principles revolve around honesty, high quality, always listen and a perpetual quest for improvement.
