Barbara Sellier

Barbara’s work as deputy head of the European Commission’s Maritime Safety Unit involves developing and implementing policies and legislation to promote quality shipping and the prevention of accidents and pollution caused by ships. She coordinates the European Commission’s work at IMO with a particular focus on the reduction of GHG emissions from ships. She joined the Commission in 2004, and has since then worked in its Directorates General for Transport and Energy. She holds master’s degrees in modern history and political sciences.
